# What a DCS repair costs in South Florida, job by job

## What a DCS repair costs, and what moves the number.

Every figure here is a from, and two things move it before a component is even named: the masonry a machine is set into, and the distance between this kitchen and the water. Both are quoted rather than buried.

35 — figures published

from $95 — diagnostic, credited to the repair

2 — things that move it before the part

Every one — is a from, never a final price

## All 35 of them

Sorted by the machine. Each says what moves it and in which direction.

No cost pages published yet.

## What the machine is set into

A grill on a cart is reached in minutes. The same grill dropped into a stone island is held on three sides by something a mason built, and the order in which anything can come out was decided then rather than by the manufacturer. On this badge that is the usual case rather than the exception.

It is why we ask for a photograph of the island before an appointment on anything built in, and why the access is quoted as its own line rather than folded into a part price and discovered mid-visit.

## How far you are from the water

Four blocks from the ocean and four miles inland are different ages of the same machine. Fixings that have seized, ignition ceramics that have crazed and housings that have corroded are labor before they are parts — and the labor is the half that moves.

This is also why a maintenance visit returns more on this badge than on any other we work: catching hardware while it is stiff rather than after it is seized is the difference between an hour and an afternoon.

## Four steps, and none of them is a phone estimate

What we do

- Establish what has failed, on site, before anything is quoted
- Separate the machine from what it is being given — supply, ventilation, power
- Put the scope and the figure in writing before anything is opened
- Credit the diagnostic against the repair when you go ahead

What we do not do

- Quote a repair from a description over the telephone
- Publish a final price anywhere on this site
- Fit a part against a supply problem you will pay for twice
- Recommend a repair we would not pay for ourselves

## By service instead

Each job page carries its own starting figure and what the visit involves.

## Some of these visits end with us recommending nothing

An undercounter refrigerator in a sealed island, a cooktop reporting a supply problem, a grill that has never been given a full preheat. In each case the honest finding costs us a parts sale, and saying it is the reason the same customers call back about something else.

## The questions this page is asked

Why is everything a from? — Because the same job is not the same work on two machines. Outdoors there are two large variables before a part is named — what it is set into, and how long the salt has been at it — and a seized fixing can add more to a visit than the component being replaced.

Is the diagnostic charged on top? — The diagnostic is from $95 and it comes off the repair when you go ahead. Where the finding is that the machine is not worth mending, or that the problem belongs to the gas supply or the building's power rather than to the appliance, you have paid for the answer and not for a part.

Does outdoor equipment cost more to maintain? — Yes, and planning for it is cheaper than reacting to it. Ignition components, burner ports, fixings and hardware are consumables in salt air, and a booked visit that catches them early costs a fraction of the unplanned one that follows when they are left.

## Why this site argues about price differently

### Not cabinetry — masonry and salt

Our sister sites price around built-in cabinetry, because that is what their makes sell. Here most of the equipment is set into stone by a mason, and most of it is standing in salt air. Those are the two variables that actually move an hour on this badge, so those are the two this site quotes.

### What a from means

Every number is a starting figure. The diagnostic is from $95, credited toward the repair, and the exact cost is measured at your equipment and agreed in writing before anything is opened.

## Not sure which of these it is?

Tell us what the machine is doing, whether it is indoors or out, and what it is built into. That is usually enough for us to say which page you are on. Where a diagnostic is the right next step it is from $95, credited toward the repair.
