# DCS rotisserie repair

### Two machines under one name, failing separately

The turning half is a motor, a bracket and a spit carrying a load. The heating half is a rear burner with its own ignition and its own flame supervision. A complaint that the rotisserie has stopped could be either, and telling us which saves an entire step. The most misunderstood symptom on the grill lives here: a rear burner that lights while the dial is held and dies the moment it is released is a safety device behaving exactly as designed, because it cannot confirm a flame. That is a diagnosis rather than an inconvenience, and we repair it rather than defeating it — anybody offering to bypass it is offering you something nobody wants.

Turn without heat, heat without turning, or neither. Each sends us somewhere different and the caller usually knows the answer already.

The turning half

Motor, bracket, spit and the load it is asked to carry. A bracket that has moved or corroded makes the motor work against itself, and motors replaced without fixing that fail again.

The heating half

Rear burner, its ignition and its flame supervision. A burner that lights while the dial is held and dies when released is behaving the way a safety system is meant to behave when it cannot see flame — that is a diagnosis, not a problem to be bypassed, and we will not bypass it.

### How long should I hold the dial in?

Twenty seconds, not five. The supervision device needs time to heat before it will hold the valve open on its own, and releasing early produces this exact symptom on a machine with nothing wrong with it. A good number of these calls end there.

### The motor hums but nothing turns.

The load is nearly always what is stopping it. Strip the spit bare and run it empty: if it turns freely, the bracket, the spit or the way the food was balanced is the problem, and replacing the motor over a binding bracket buys a season at most.
