### One published code is about the building, not the cooktop

This is the only part of the badge that announces its problems in a short, decoded, published list, and that list is worth knowing because two of its entries usually resolve without a part. Continual key activation is a cloth or a spill on the glass. And the voltage entry is not about the cooktop at all — it is the machine reporting on the electricity it is being given and declining to run on it, which is the sensible thing for a large piece of power electronics to do. In older buildings, particularly where a kitchen was rewired around a new island, it appears for real reasons and the right trade to call is not ours.

What this involves

Each entry points somewhere different, and two of them regularly resolve without a part. We do not treat a code as a part number.

Separate the machine from its supply

Voltage under load, not at rest, and at the machine rather than at the panel. Where the supply is the problem we say so plainly, even though it is not work we are selling.

Then the machine: coils, fans, board and the glass

Cooling matters more on induction than people expect — a fan that has stopped produces temperature problems that look like coil failures. The glass is checked for cracks that have not yet reached the surface.

### It shuts down at the end of a long cook.

That is very often the machine working correctly. Induction puts a lot of power through electronics in a shallow space, and a temperature protection that triggers after several zones at full for an hour is doing its job. Early in a cook is a different matter.

### Can I keep resetting and carry on?

We would not. Every one of these shutdowns is the machine deciding that continuing would damage something, and repeatedly pushing through a protection is the reliable way to turn it into a repair.
