### Heavy, under tension, and not an adjust-by-eye job

A door on this class of range is genuinely heavy and its hinges are under spring tension, which is why this is priced as skilled work rather than as an adjustment. It is also the part of an oven most likely to hurt somebody improvising with a screwdriver. The symptoms owners describe — a cool corner, a door standing slightly proud, a thud on the last inch of closing — are all one conversation, and they are measured rather than judged: the gap around the whole perimeter with the door shut tells us whether the hinge, the seal or the frame is the problem. Seal and hinges are dealt with together, because fitting one behind the other destroys it.
