DCS hood light and switch repair
Dead lamps, a speed control stuck on one setting, buttons that work when they feel like it. Indoors these are usually the switch, the control or a lamp holder cooked by years of heat directly above a high-output range. Outdoors they are usually water. The split is diagnostic: lights dead with the blower alive, or the reverse, points at a control or that circuit; everything dead points at the supply or the board. It is a cheap repair to make and an easy one to keep living with, which is why it is often years old by the time somebody calls.

A hood is the machine nobody thinks about until the kitchen stops clearing, and on this badge there are two of them living quite different lives. Indoors it sits over a high-output range and is asked to move a great deal of air quietly; outdoors it sits over a grill in the weather and is asked to survive. What differs is why: above a high-output range these components are heat-aged, and lamp holders cooked by years of rising heat fail in a way that looks like bad bulbs. On an outdoor hood they are water-aged instead, and the repair has to include re-routing and sealing or the same page gets sold twice.

Is it worth fixing lights on a hood we rarely use?
